Harbison Estate ‘Horseshoe’ Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2018
Horseshoe vineyard is BIG, bold, and delicious. This unapologetic beast has loads of plum, licorice, scorched earth, and crushed rocks. Supple tannins and a multi-layered mouthfeel. This is the vineyard that truly represents Screaming Eagles' neighbor the most.
100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck
Harbison Estate vineyards is perhaps the most boutique rare winery in the world and the vineyards are sitting right up the street from us in Oakville. Joe Harbison, a long time wine collector and philanthropist, started this winery in 2005 and planted five small vineyard blocks that yield approximately 75 cases every harvest. Harbison Estate's team of artisans includes Russell Bevan, whose wines Robert Parker calls, "exuberant and showy," and Jim Barbour, venerable Napa Valley viticulturist for nearly 40 years. Together, they produce focused and graceful wines from the land that is Harbison Estate.
The vineyard blocks include The Trail, located along the Silverado Trail near the front of the property (across the street from Dalla Valle, Turnbull Leopoldina and Peter Michael). Pony Express is the northern-most block and named for the Pony Express stop once on the estate (next to Rudd, Gargiulo and Gamble). Horseshoe, the western facing vineyard block and fondly nicknamed for the numerous horseshoes found during development (next to Tench and Screaming Eagle).
