This single-vineyard bottling, produced by Patz & Hall since 1990, is a model of consistency. It is aged in new and used French oak barrels for 10 months with regular lee-stirring, yet always displays exquisite balance and lively, citrusy energy. Notes of white flowers, melon, lemon zest, and pear are knit together with hints of warm spic and crushed chalk. At once lip-smacking and serious, this is a celebrated Californian benchmark.
